INFINITI’s planned first entry in the electric vehicle market, the INFINITI Vision Qe, is a stunning fastback concept that showcases the automaker’s “artistry in motion” design philosophy. The futuristic sedan is a work of art, with everything from the wheels to illumination adding to the vehicle’s fluid-like nature.
Electrified for the Future
The Vision Qe concept is INFINITI’s first step toward the company’s goal of producing an electric range by 2030. While the automaker hasn’t released details about the Vision Qe’s electric motor, we do know that the four-door sedan’s powerful design is meant to hint at similarly powerful performance. In line with other electric vehicles, you can expect a quieter drive, lower fuel costs, and smooth acceleration thanks to the instant torque an electric motor provides.
Artistry in Motion
The Vision Qe’s design team worked to create a modern, sophisticated sedan that embodies three Japanese design principles:
- Kabuku: A sense of evoking the extraordinary
- Sho: Dynamism and movement
- Sui: Details that evoke purity and sophistication
Keeping in line with the automaker’s “Artistry in Motion” design ethos, the Vision Qe features a sleek, aerodynamic form that draws the eye from the front to the rear of the car in one smooth motion. The sculpted body is inspired by a bird taking flight, with the entire design flowing from a single line that stems from the 3-dimensional INFINITI emblem at the front of the car.
Show-Stopping Design
Thoughtful design touches bring to mind the feeling of motion even when the car is still. A bespoke paint color created for the Vision Qe is deep blue with gold flakes, conjuring stars in a far-off galaxy. Large wheels have been designed with an electric motor coil-inspired geometric pattern and finished in warm gold to contrast with the body color.
Dynamic Lighting
The Vision Qe’s lighting is artwork in its own right. As you approach with your key, the lights will play a welcoming animation sequence. Bimodal illumination turns the front and rear digital piano key lighting signatures to gold when the car is on standby. Once you depress the start button, the lighting changes to red for the tail lights and white for the front digital piano key signature and emblem.
The scene-stealing front fascia pays homage to INFINITI’s signature double-arched grille, with powerfully sculpted lines and an LED outline taking center stage. The headlights are extensions of the digital piano key, connecting from fender to fender while emphasizing the car’s width.
